Yacht Skipper Request:
  •  Adrian Teague, QNHG Rambles Chair, is seeking 5 skippers familiar with and capable of sailing Colgate (26ft) yachts for a future QNHG trip to Banana Island on 16 or 17 March.  He would run a skipper familiarisation trip on 1 Colgate yacht a fortnight before which potential skippers would have to participate in.

 Book Release Announcement:
  • To obtain a free copy of the
    new, illustrated publication An Introduction to Qatar Fauna,
    go to the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage,  the 9th Floor,
    ask for Abdelouadood El Omrani and he will hand out a copy, which must
    be signed for (they have only printed 400 copies). The Ministry is in one
    of the multi-storeys in West Bay. To get directions, call him on 5538 0253.  


Carnivore Sightings and Volunteers:  Dr. Nobby Yamaguchi, Qatar University, requests information on wild terrestrial mammal carnivore sightings.  If you have seen a wild mammal carnivore or its presence (tracks, feces, bones or den) in Qatar, please send the following information to the QNHG Chair: approximate date or time of year of sighting, location, carnivore type (fox, jackal, hyena, badger, wild cat, sand cat, or other), a description of what you observed, and your contact information.  He will use this information to help identify study sites.  If you are interested in volunteering on the project, he will need help in surveying locals about carnivore observations near the study sites (email the Chair to add your name to the volunteer list).  Email QNHG Chair at chairman@qnhg.org
