Trip Report: The Birdwalk at Qatar University

From David Mundie: About 30 adults and children showed up to begin their birding careers. The three pairs of binoculars purchased by QNHG came in very handy.

The ramblers more than met their target of 10 species. The complete list is:

RAMBLE 2009-02-06: A GENTLE BIRDWALK AT QATAR UNIVERSITY

Description: This Friday we will stroll around the grounds of Qatar University looking for some of the common birds of Qatar and enjoying the beautiful weather. This walk is intended for the birding novice. If you don't know what those jaunty dark birds with the white patches on the side of head are, this ramble's for you. Experienced birders are of course welcome also; there are reports of some early European Swallows showing up at the university.

Date: 2009-02-06

Time: 07:30. The early birder gets the bird.

Ramble Time: About one and a half hours; participants are of course welcome to stay longer.

Meeting Place: The parking lot across from the administration building in Qatar University. GPS Coordinates: 25° 22.515'N 51° 29.625'E.

Vehicles: Four-wheel drive is not necessary.

What to bring: BINOCULARS. Apart from that, the usual: snacks, sunscreen, hat, water, BINOCULARS (did I mention that?).
